Mulberry, a 4-series thermal shock resistant NDIR gas sensor
eLichens' Mulberry is an NDIR (Non-Dispersive InfraRed) gas sensor. This sensor comes in different versions according to the targeted gas: CO2, CH4, CH4NB (NarrowBand), R32.
This whitepaper describes a robustness feature carried by this sensor. This feature is thermal shock resistance. Depending on the application, a sensor may be exposed to different ranges of temperature. The temperature range, as well as its rate of change, influence the sensor characteristics, mainly due to electronic components sensitivity to temperature.
This whitepaper will focus on the temperature rate of change influence, namely temperature derivative with respect to time. We will describe the thermal shock tests and present the obtained results.
